I got very excited about this too! I keep thinking that if she DOES have a new studio at the house in Reading, maybe it was just too tempting to get in there and play around to finish "taking 1996 off from work" to wait. Though you know how it is . . . even if the album is done in a year (the time span Kate has claimed it takes to do an album) should she decide to do another film it will take an extra year before we see it. Good news in any event. Regarding TLTCTC, IED is (per usual!) correct that there is much more going on in the And So Is Love video that first meets the eye. I have always felt that the whole movie is full of symbolism and that there is a story line -- though more like a Jeannette Winterson story line than a Danielle Steel story line. Ergo it is less dependent on plot and more dependent on the beauty of the music and the images -- but that doesn't mean that nothing is going on there. As in one of Winterson's books, a hell of a lot is going on, but it isn't what we think. I find Winterson's group of essays Art(Objects) to be insightful -- much of her discussion on art and writing applies to Kate's work in music. Because the imagery in TLTCTC is removed from a strictly linear, logical context doesn't mean it is empty. It can be approached on its own terms. Karen kln@staralliance.com
