I heard it's because she feels she can do a better job using films.
Films can be perfected, but live performances have imperfections;
sometimes major mistakes happen.  A film can be shown over and over,
reaching many people, but live performances do not even approach this
efficiency. It's been said Kate doesn't like to fly.

Barbara Streisand had a bad case of stage fright lasting years.
