American tastes seem to be less forgiving to the whimsical or overly-artistic, two categories into which Kate fits squarely. You mention Tina Turner and Whitney Houston. Throw in a dash of Bonnie Raitt, Pat Benatar and Sheryl Crow, and you have covered our mainstream Grammy female winners for almost fifteen years. Robb
