To add to the list of musical tastes (especially female or female-lead)
add Sheryl Crow (amazing, easy to listen to, and fun music), The Cranberries
(some might say too "Sundays-ish"), Linda Ronstadt (check out her big band
work), Bonnie Raitt, Melissa Etheridge (both good "down-home" rock), Sue Foley
(the best, current female blues), and on and on and on...

There are also wonderful "local" talents that arem unfortunately, not
as widely spread. From the Omaha, NE, area, there are (were?) the Acorns; from
Cleveland, OH, there are: Jehova Waitresses, Odd Girl Out, The Waynes (an
"occasional" lead by their female band member), and others whose names escapes
me.

Which kind of leads me into a "soapbox". Check out and support your
local music scene. There is bound to be at least one group that digs Kate, and
tries her "style". Some of the best music goes unheard and un-played by the
"general" masses. For those who don't know, Trent Reznor got his start in the
Cleveland music scene. Check out some of the Exotic Birds material, and you
might see his name there. You just never know!
