The KBC claims that they want either a check for a British bank or an international draft for money in British pounds. Unless you have a bank account in England (or a friend in England) you will probably have difficulty getting a check for a British bank. Unfortunately, getting an internation draft in the U.S. is usually quite expensive (i.e. a $20 surcharge). An alternative is to mail British cash. British cash can be purchased at many banks. Unfortunately, the smallest English bill is for five pounds. Therefore, you have to round your cost up to the next five pounds, which can also be expensive. Also, your cash may be stolen en route. If you do business with the KBC often, in the past they have allowed you to send them a bunch of money, and keep a running balance with them, just making sure that you don't go below zero. |>oug <nessus@mit.edu>
