Actually, it wasn't quite Vickie who discovered her.  The first person
I know of to find out about her was Bob Davis, who sometimes acts as
a DJ for the college station KFJC.  Bob introduced Vickie to Happy.

Bob's a real interesting guy.  His record collection comprises over
4,000 albums from all over the world; he has lots of records from
European artists that are very difficult to find in the USA.  His
taste for popular music is extremely wide, ranging from Happy,
Kate, and Jane Siberry (whom he's interviewed twice), to speed metal,
rap, ABBA, and Kylie Minogue.  If you tell him you like a certain artist,
he's liable to think of five fairly obscure artists that you would
probably like as well.
