rec.music.gaffa is the name of a USENET newsgroup that distributes the
Love-Hounds mailing list.  rec.music.gdead is the USENET Grateful Dead
newsgroup.  Many hosts subscribe to the USENET newsgroups, and many
people read Love-Hounds through the newsgroup and do not receive it as
a mailing list digest.

There are many other USENET newsgroups, not just the "rec"
(recreational) groups, including groups devoted to the discussion of
various computer architectures, software, disciplines, languages,
discussion of sexuality, politics, items for sale, you name it.
