EMI and the Sex Pistols ...

Well, once upon a time, there were these bad boys (our heros) who
pretty much made the con of the century (later to be known as 
"The Great Rock-n-Roll Swindle") by getting at least 3 major record
companies to sign them and give them (usually) half of the deal
up front, and then they'd weasel out of the contract and have
free money... I'm not sure of the details, but EMI fucked them over
pretty good, so they took the money and ran, so to speak. Also
affected was Virgin Records, but I can't remember the third...
