I have a vague memory of stumbling across that "T" with the arrow coming
out of it in a world almanac or something and reading that it is a symbol
for thunderstorms or some such that was used on the old weather maps before
we had these cute little animated clouds flashing lightning that the TV
news is so fond of.

There must be some reference for this on the net, eh? Or one of you
university folks in the group might call over to the weather lab and ask
someone.

The symbol in The Big Sky video appears on the flag and is the KT symbol.
