I received Jane Siberry's "The Walking" this weekend and really like it (much more than "Bound By The Beauty"), so thanks for your recommendations. This album also easily fits into the Kate genre. Another artist from that category (who's way underrepresented btw) is Heather Nova (who also did a beautiful cover of "Like A Hurricane", btw). And a mostly-male group that should be mentioned here is The Nits (from Holland). Their album "urk" gives a good introduction to their material, sometimes catchy, spacy or quirky folk/rock/pop pearls (I've read the term "chamber pop" somewhere...). Re The 9th Wave I like the tracks most where Kate experiments, pushes boundaries and creates things like this (see also Houdini, Big Stripey Lie or Violin). Sure, you can't dance to and it doesn't work as background music, it takes time, open ears and an open mind to really appreciate it. But if she'd only put out mass-compatible stuff (which I'm usually quickly bored with) I certainly won't be a big fan. Babooshka won't be on my top list either. today's "top" list: 7) And Dream Of Sheep 6) Under Ice 5) Waking The Witch 4) Watching You Without Me 3) Jig Of Life 2) Hello Earth 1) The Morning Fog ciao, Rolf
