Surely the thing about Kate is not what instruments she uses but HOW she uses them? That is what sets her slightly apart. She is able to weave instruments in such a way that they become either representative or even just very interesting. Whether 'tis a violin or a bongo, a synthesizer or a grand piano. Music is created whatever, just because one album is particularly heavier on pianos or brass or whatever; isn't it the way in which they are weaved....... Her tunes aren't always melodic are they? It's the music as an entity *groan*. Just an opinion of course......
