Only five?  Oh well, I've never been much good at following directions.  
Here goes:

1. Cocteau Twins
2. Indigo Girls
3.  Janis Joplin
4. The Carpenters (okay, laugh, but they bring back great childhood memories)
5. Angelique Kidjo (recently discovered her music and can't stop playing it).
6. Rush
7. Jethro Tull
8. Tracy Chapman
9. Melissa Etheridge
