If you compare Hounds of love on CD and on vinyl (UK editions), you will find 
that they differ very much in sound quality - the CD sounds harsher than the 
vinyl. I think this is very strange, other Kate-albums tend to sound better on 
CD, but in the HOL case, the CD sounds as if you use Dolby when listening to a 
tape that's not dolby encoded.
