GLC used to stand for Greater London Council, the much missed local
government for Greater London which was abolished by Margaret Thatcher
because Londoners had the unfortunate (in HER eyes) tendency to elect
councilors whose politics (and hence policies) did not agree with Maggie's.
The Comic Strip made a hilarious TV film of that name about the demise of
the council. KaTe's song "Ken" was written for that film, Ken being the
last leader of the GLC.
