from what i hear, the line 'i turn into the mule' and the 'eor' noises are a reference to the mule, a powerful (psychic?) mutant character in isaac asimov's foundation trilogy (actually by now it's more than a trilogy but anyway . . . . ), which i have owned since the age of 10 and NEVER read . . . . . i was always more heinlein action than asimov cerebral in my SF taste. GOOMH also reportedly was inspired by the film version of stephen king's 'the shining.' i know these oft-reported tidbits, but here's a question, perhaps for IED: what are the sources of this information? has kate mentioned asimov or king and/or their works in any interviews? or is it all supposition? brian dillard
