I mean, isn't the line "I don't want to go" an oblique way of saying "I don't want to die and leave my beautiful England behind"? Of course, for years I thought the Pretenders' song "Kid" was a love song till someone told me the character in the song is a prostitute -- certainly changed my way of seeing the world.
