PAL is a way of carrying the coloUr in a video signal. It was developed after
NTSC and provides better results. NTSC has the nickname "Never Tice the Same
Colour" because it can suffer from HUE changes. With PAL the hue remains the
same although the saturation of the colour (it's deepness) might change a bit.

PAL/NTSC is only to do with colour. Unfortunately there are many other
technical problems that mean video tapes from the States can't easily be viewed
by people over here. This is why we need standards converters or multi-standard
VCRs and TVs -isn't life a bitch ?
