In article <940518083620.234000ce@ZASU.SPRL.UMICH.EDU> you write: > >woj writes: >>>considering just the Top Ten, 4 come from HoL, and 2 each from TKI, TSW, and >>>TRS > >that seems sort of strange considering that 142% of the people on the list say >that The Dreaming is their favorite album... and not 1 song from that album >made the top ten... This may be due to the fact that, even though it is international, love-hounds is primarily American. As someone already pointed out, the Top Ten were all singles. The vast majority of Konvention attendees were from the UK. Singles are more important in the UK. Kate has hardly had any singles in the US. Kate is marketed and viewed quite differently in the US than the UK. She is truely an "album" artist in the US, and her albums didn't really start to sell here until _The Dreaming_. A whole bunch of factors. Also, Konvention attendees tended to be a self-selected group of Kate's most ardent fans, and the UK fans probably first heard of Kate with _Wuthering Heights_ rather than (as in the US) _Running Up That Hill_. A list produced from US fans for a US Con would be quite different. Chris Williams of Chris'n'Vickie of Chicago chrisw@fciad2.bsd.uchicago.edu (his) vickie@njin.rutgers.edu (hers)
