I think if I were going to bring up the subject of smoking when
meeting Kate I'd be more inclined to say something like "I hope you
quit smoking for *you*.  It is sad to see people lose the ability to
do something *they* love to do and do so well, something that is so
important to *them*.  Never mind what fans want, what about you?"  In
reality I don't think I'd be able to actually say this to her but I
hope someone she knows says this to her.  Of course this could get her
pretty angry but it's true.  It is sad to see.
