Karen reports on the Rough Trade event, which sounds rather wimpy. Well, I went to the Mod Lang event, and found it rather nice. The whole album was played at a reasonable volume (more on that in a minute), they handed out lots of TRS buttons featuring the cover of the album, had an album for fans to look at (very colorful :-)), and gave me a promo-flat when I asked them. They had a lithograph on display and the huge subway poster. They said they would draw the winners next Saturday. I'll be there to check it out and bring a Happy Rhodes CD along, since the people working there sounded interested in her music :) Now for the album. The good news is that I like it more than TSW, LH, and TKI. The bad news is that the reasons I like it aren't the reasons I like Kate's music. But since the overall impression was positive, there's no reason to complain. It is really the most accessible Kate album, and my prediction is that it will be a major seller in the US if they start promoting the right tracks. I also predict that Jon Drukman will hate it :). Moments of Pleasure, The red shoes, Why should I love you? and the-one-with-lily-in-the-title were amazing, IMHO. Anxiously awaiting Tuesday, Angelos
