EMI UK adapted this style of catalog number in 1989, though there are
probably still "rogue" releases that do it differently.  12" singles are
"12EM <x>", CD-singles are "CDEM <x>", and CD albums are "EMD <x>".
Parlophone has its own scheme that *seems* to be continuously-numbered back
to the early '80s ("12R <x>", etc).
