I made a round of the downtown record stores today and found that the Rubberband Girl single is #12 on the CFNY ("The Edge") list #13 on the list at Sam the Record Man (#20 last week) #29 on the list at Music World (debut) Note however that only the cassingle is released in Canada - no CDs. The tape contains RBG and BSL, album versions only, same on BOTH sides of the tape. The cover is same as the Brit single but the horizontal scale is reduced relative to the vertical scale, so KaTe looks SQUISHED. CFNY is holding a "The Red Shoes" public listening session on Oct 26. Unfortunately the newspaper ad that announced this said "listen to CFNY for more details on how you can join in" and I don't have any more info yet. ********** Other news: On Sam's list, Jane Siberry's "Sail Across the Water" dropped from 12 to 20, and Sarah McLaughlan's "Possession" debuts at #30. Les has already mentioned the video for "Possession". However, merely saying "Sarah holding a man in a towel" isn't exactly a fair description, Les! I'd like to add that there are scenes of Adam and Eve (complete with snake, apple, and fig leaf), Salome with St. John the Baptist, Cleopetra (?), an alchemist, and women in Classic Greek garb. The man that Sarah is holding wears a Muslim loincloth and could be representative of Christ. I don't know yet how/if these images tie in with the lyrics. I hope you didn't remember that I mentioned I'll be typing in the transcription of a Jane interview. But if you did, well, you'll just have to wait a tad longer! -- **********"We all breathe the same air" KaTe Bush Tippi Chai, Toronto, Canada <chai@gpu.utcc.utoronto.ca || chai@utorgpu.bitnet> Disclaimer: all opinions, pinions and onions expressed herein are solely mine.
