Yeah, well....SB really can't sing all that well. Her vocal style is
woefully inconsistent: so much so that the hype-mongers left her at the
starting gate. I understand that Andrew Lloyd Webber refused to take
'Phantom' to NYC unless Sarah was permitted to sing in the show. There
was some flap about her lack of Actor's Equity membership, or some such
thing at the time....I woulddn't say her voice was incredible in
'Phantom' I saw it several times in the US and in London, and her
understudy sang rings around her. Everyone in the know said "If you go
see 'Phantom,' do it on the day she has off because her understudy is
fabulous...." And they were right!
