Happy Rhodes (short)

This is a very short informational post for those who might be
new, and curious about Happy Rhodes.


Very quickly...Happy Rhodes is a woman (born Kimberly, but called Happy
from birth) who has released 6 albums on Aural Gratification Records,
a label started by her SO/co-producer Kevin Bartlett (also a musician).

Happy's voice ranges from very low to very high, and can sound earthy and
ethereal in the same song. Her music is, depending on the song, guitar,
synth or percussion based, deceptively simple at times, lush and rich at
others. She writes all her own music and lyrics, and has only recorded one
cover (David Bowie's "Ashes to Ashes" which will appear on the upcoming
compilation album _Rhodes Songs_.) Her lyrics range from storytelling to
personal demon-bashing to dreams to surreal "you figure it out"-type songs.

She's very shy, but paints monsters (don't let the album covers freak you
out!) She's a very nice person who makes wonderful music (IMHO) which I
love deeply, dearly, forever. She's unknown (aside from an international
cult following), but well worth giving a try (again, IMHO). Ecto is a
mailing list dedicated to her (though, be warned, we talk about everything
under the sun...and moon) and the address to join is in my .sig line.
