Yes it does seem to be an American way.

"Freeze or I'll blow ya brains out"

The American Constitution says they are allowed to bear arms.
I believe it was meant to read BARE arms, ie roll up your sleeves
and get some work done.

I guess that comes from not knowing how to spell words like
centre, kilometre and colour.  ;-)
