Here's a little snippet from the August 1 edition of the Canadian newspaper the Globe and Mail, if anyone's interested. Hopefully the little mistakes do not belie its overall accuracy... - Neil K. (n_k_guy@sfu.ca) ========================== Siberry joins concert lineup (by G&M staff) TORONTO - Toronto singer Jane Siberry is a late addition to the Aug. 7 Soukous and Dub concert at the WOMAD festival at Harbourfront's Molson Place. Accompanied by Bobby Wiseman, Siberry will give an acoustic performance of new material. She will join Paris-based Zairean musician Tchico-Tchicaya and his band Soukous-Machine, and the UK group Edward II. Siberry has just returned from the Britain, (sic - NK) where she completed work on her next album (due in January, 1993) with producer Brian Eno. While in Britain, she was invited by WOMAD sounder (sic, probably "founder" - NK) and board member Peter Gabrieal (sic - NK) to play WOMAD's 10th anniversary concert in Blackheath, England (the first of the WOMAD's 17 venues around the world), and to participate in the RealWorld Recording Week at Gabriel's studio in Box, England. That compilation album, produced annually by Gabriel, will this year feature such WOMAD artists as Alison Moyet, Bob Geldof, Kirsty MacColl, Robbie Robertson, Papa Wemba, the Pogues, Sheila Chandra and Jah Wobble. ========================== ObKate: Well, I'm too late for the 30th. Oh, well.
