I am not 474mcwilliam@gw.wmich.edu. I didn't say: >I'm thinking about buying her boxed set but right now I don't have the 100 >dollars to do it. It would cost more to go out and buy all her singles. How >about a review of her boxed set? Haven't seen one yet!!! Good things about the box set: - instantly gives you the complete EMI recordings of kate, minus three instrumental versions. - sexy black box fits in well with trendy black furniture and stereo equipment - nice picture book with glossy drool-resistant pages - UK editions of CDs have better sound than US editions - Never For Ever CD has correct track indexing unlike US edition Bad things about the box set: - too expensive - pointless sticker sheet. you can't use them because it ruins the integrity of your box set. so what do you do with them, then? if i ever went on tour or played live again i might slap one on my keyboard or guitar and ruin the integrity of my set just so i could look cool. - you gotta paw through the stickers and book to get at the CDs and they aren't the easiest to get out, particularly if you've been letting your fingernails grow long. - too expensive - nothing new. most collectors have all the tracks already. - weird size and shape guarantees it won't fit in your CD rack. Mitigating factors: - if you can sell your old kt merchandise, you can defray the cost somewhat. i got the box set from a canadian contact for something like US$130. sold all my old KT discs for a total of $40, bringing the price on the box down to $90, which isn't that bad for 8 import CDs. - those b-sides sound great on CD. except passing through air which sounds really muddy and compressed. but i love it anyway. what a dopey song. wheee! any more questions? -- Jon Drukman (finely honed machine) uunet!sco!jondr jondr@sco.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Annihilating Rhythm
