genel@pyrtech.pyramid.com (Gene Lege') sez: >Is this the same Laurie Freelove that is/was (?) a member of >Two Nice Girls? yup - was. i've got to agree with vickie on this one: _smells like truth_ is an excellent release: a mysterious and sonic album that is deep and ensnaring. i saw her perform at jc dobbs a few weeks ago and it was an excellent show. the music was even further stripped down than the album: laurie on acoustic guitar with three others playing electric guitar, percussion and a lyricon. very textured music and precise performance. on a related note, i was not terribly impressed with the new one from single gun theory. a few songs struck me as defintely worthwhile, but alot of it seemed pretty fluffy, even for dance music. hmmm. i also found the second release from devils weirlding scimitars, _worry dolls_. this band is something in the soft guitar rock stuff ala 10,000 maniacs and the children. catchy and decent. woj - inhibition is the distance between thought and action - have a fish...
