Eek. Actually, I _have_ these tools, but I didn't write them. They're perl scripts, "dedigest" which you pipe the digest through from the Unix prompt, fer instance, and "digest" which can be used directly from Elm. Unfortunately, these scripts were written with "---------" digest message separators in mind, not Love-Hound's "[][][][][][][][][][]" separator. I've modified them to work with Love Hounds, though. Separators seem to be so arbitrary that I didn't make the new scripts recognize all separators, which would be nigh impossible. I don't know a shred of perl anyway! They handle Love-Hounds fine, but _only_ Love-Hounds. Keep in mind these are perl scripts, not shell scripts. The scripts are available via ftp at mrcnext.cso.uiuc.edu in the love-hounds directory, they're called "delh" and "elmdelh". If you aren't comfortable with ftp, I can mail them out. I can also scratch up perl source code... :-P ;-) The two new scripts are "delh" which will turn a digest into a folder, or set of independent messages readable by mail or elm. This is mainly for folks who don't use elm. Just save a digest to a file called x, type "delh < x > y" and the file called y will contain independent messages, readable nicely using "mail -f y", "elm -f y", or even "nn y" or "rn y". "elmdelh" can be used within elm using the pipe command. Just type "|elmdelh" while selecting the digest, and elm will automatically open a new folder with independent messages from the digest. I'd be happy to help folks use these scripts, they make life a lot easier. Especially when you're killing censorship strings. ;-) Sorry to blow so much wind! >woj@remus.rutgers.edu - i just want to sleep on you and leave it at that -- Ken.
