By an amazing coincidence, I happened to be listening to Close To The Edit last night and I remember being impressed by how fresh and unique it still sounds. Yes, sampling is now within the reach of even the most modest budget, but the creativity of the AoN folks is not something you can buy at K-Mart. Incidental and possibly true anecdote: my friend here at work who used to work for various music companies tells me that most of Who's Afraid Of The Art Of Noise was made with them all stoned out of their minds and sitting around the Fairlight giggling like fiends.
