I hate to be a jerk, but Tower Boston does not even come *close* to having everything. Yes, they are big and yes, they do have a large selection, but most of their stuff is fairly mainstream. They are often missing many titles. In addition, my experience with the sales staff is that they are fairly ignorant. In addition to the stores that you mentioned, I would suggest: Cheapo Records (Central Square) -- probably the largest selection of 45's I have ever seen. They specialize in "oldies" and obscure titles. A fun store to browse around in. In Your Ear Records (Comm Ave on the BU Campus, Mt. Auburn Street in Cambridge) -- The one on Comm Ave caters to BU students, has a fair selection of both used records and posters. Not great, but good. Mystery Train Records (there is one near Harvard Square, if I remember correctly, and on Newbury Street, close to Mass Ave.) Newbury Comics (another location is close to Tower at Newbury and Mass Ave.) Nuggets (very large selection, all used, on Comm Ave close to Kenmore Square, and on Beacon out in Brookline at Coolidge Corner) Steve Jack's (Porter Square) -- Specializing in Jazz & Blues. Vinyl Connection (Boylston Street) -- much like Street Sounds on Melrose, exclusively disco-type. Very helpful sales staff, excellent selection, especially if you are a DJ. Criminal Records (Columbus Ave in the South End) -- same type as Vinyl Connection. Skippy Whites' (Mass Ave near Northeastern University) -- Used records, mostly black artists. Planet Records (Kenmore Square, above The Rat) -- good selection of live bootlegs (gray market). Sometimes overpriced, but they rate the sound quality of these underground recordings, which can be *very* helpful. Friendly staff. BCD (Boston Compact Disc, Harvard Square) -- a small place with good selection, reasonable prices. They tend to have some obscure titles.
