Subject: KaTe in PKDick book?
Hello again, all. I just finished reading _The_Divine_Invasion_ by Philip K. Dick, a very good novel, and very weird. Various manifestations of God run around the Earth, trying to establish their control upon it. Or something like that. So why post it here, and not rac.arts.sf-lovers? Because one of the characters is Linda Fox, the famous singer who likes to use strange instruments and lyrics, who is loved by everyone in the galaxy, who some people even consider the most important person in existence... Sound familiar? Most academic studies of Dick simply say that Linda Fox is patterned on Linda Ronstadt, and this makes sense, since Ronstadt herself is mentioned once. But this was written in 1980, a few years before Dick's death, and a few years after a certain British singer made a name for herself everywhere but the US. So, to everyone out there who's read this, what do you think? Is Linda Fox really Kate Bush, at least in part? RobH Go blowing my mind on God... (KT)
