IED has read with interest Larry Spence's, Bill Wisner's and Jon
Drukman's recent postings--all vituperative ripostes to IED's comments on
_TSW_, Kate and Del. IED is again surprised to discover what irate replies
IED's postings unintentionally provoke. For the record, however, IED did
not "sneer" at anyone in his posting. In fact, his words showed open respect
for the opinions of those with whom he took issue. Also for fairness' sake,
over half of IED's 300-line posting consisted of an excerpt from the
Swales interview, and did not come from IED's (admittedly wordy) mind.
IED is at a loss to match the wit and intellectual acumen displayed by
arguments like "Put a cork in it, IED." He hopes that some of the rest of
you who read IED's posting will be able to make some allowances for his
clumsy style of expression, and to see that, for the most part, his
observations about Kate and Del's work are reasonable and well supported
by the facts. Finally, he would just like to point out once more that liking
or disliking a piece of music is quite a different thing from proving
that the piece in question is "good" or "bad".
