Yes, it's Kate's voice after bunches of processing.  Hard to believe,
isn't it?  But Kate's actually said so.

Also, the Iron Maiden thing has been discussed before, and I think
the concensus was that this is a coincidence.  I can't remember
the discussion for sure, though, and I might be wrong.
