here are directions to my humble abode, for KaTemas '89:
remember, once you get close, northbay apts. are on the corner
of mission and swift.

from anywhere:

find your way to the san francisco & monterey bay area, calif.

from north of santa cruz (san jose, east bay, etc.):
---------------------------------------------------
make your way to 17 south.  take 17 S all the way to santa 
cruz, and take the 1 north exit (from 17) .  follow signs
to ucsc (or san fransico--you want to go north again).  do _not_
go to central district.

Continue on 1 N--
it turns into a 2+ lane blvd, and you encounter your first stop 
light (river street/highway 9).  go straight thru this light--you
encounter a second light--turn right.  you are now on mission st.
(get in the left lane, because the right lane exits again).  
highway 1 is the same as mission st.--mission turns into a 1 N
again after it goes thru town.  so continue north on mission--you'll
go thru several lights (walnut, laurel, bay, etc.).  when you hit
swift (another light), turn right.  northbay apartments will be on
your left.  after turning right on swift, it bends around to the
left (and turns into grandview).   turn left into the second
driveway of the northbay complex.  #201 is in the _last_ building
(northern most) of the complex, ground floor.  

from south of santa cruz (la, etc.):

take your favorite way to 1 north (5 or 101 to gilroy, for
example).  continue on 1 north--it makes a 270 degree loop
once you're in santa cruz--stay in the rightmost lane of 1 N,
and follow the signs to ucsc (or sf)--you want to keep going on
1 north.  do _not_ go to central district.  after the 270 degree
loop, just stay in right lane so you can stay on 1 N.
now follow the directions  that are common for all
("***common part***") from above!

from san francisco (if you want to take 1 south, instead of 17 S):

take 1 south 'til santa cruz.  the first light you'll encounter is
western drive.  the second light is swift--make a left.  you'll
see northbay apts. on your left.  swift bends around to the left,
and turns into grandview.  take the second driveway into the complex--
#201 is in the last (northern most) building of the complex, ground
floor.
