Yes it's true, Fairlight has collapsed. Their main investor reneged on
a refinancing deal and they were wound up by their bank. There have
been a couple of articles in Australian news groups which I read with
interest. These gave a basic history of Fairlight and interpretations
of why it failed, as seen by ex R & D staff. The consensus seems to be
that bad management and market targeting were to blame. The latest
news is that the founders of Fairlight have bought all of the
intellectual property rights and some of the company's equipment back
from the liquidators, and intend to start again.

I still have the news articles I mentioned, and I can mail them to
anyone who wants them. I will not re-post them unless there is a *lot*
of interest, as together they are quite large.

On a different note, I vaguely recall hearing that Babooshka is a
figure from Russian mythology. Can anyone confirm or deny this, and
supply a little more information ?
