Subject: WDRE/WLIR is still there
I feel no sorrow for you people in New York. At least your station still plays the same style of music. WLIR's sister station WXXP in Pittsburgh was the greatest thing to happen in music to that city. For two years whenever I drove home to see my parents I couldn't wait to get in range of 100.7 to hear the "screamer of the week". They are the reason I now know of Kate Bush, They Might Be Giants, and the Firm with "Star Trekkin'". As of Labor Day they became WMIX, "the hits you want to hear!" and are basically a top 2 station (I haven't heard them play more than 2 songs). Driving into Pittsburgh for Thanksgiving made me so sad. Tuning in the station to hear Jodi Watley was enough to make me sick. I have a friend in New York who I am giving tapes to so I can get to listen to new music down here in Cherry Hill. So I don't want to hear how bad WDRE has become, for me it is pure Utopia. Bret G.
