more on Clannad

_Sirius_ and _Macalla_ are the only two Clannad records to have
been released in North America.  Before that, they did _Legend_
(music from the TV series Robin of Sherwood) and _Magical Ring_
on RCA records in the UK.  Their earlier releases are on a small
Irish label, Tara records.

In recent years they have been becoming less and less traditional
Irish and more and more international-pop (no doubt why the last
two are the only ones out in North America).  The denizens of
rec.music.folk on Usenet seem to consider them to have sold out.
Nevertheless, Maire has a beautiful voice, and even the most
recent records contain songs sung in Gaelic.  Clannad did their
first North American tour this summer.  The Montreal concert was
certainly an evening well spent.
