Summary: chalk horse
David Benjamin sez: > Does anyone know the name or location of the horse figure printed on > the cover of XTC's "English Settlement" album. It's called The Chalk Horse, and I don't know where it is. There is a photo of XTC standing in front of it on the cover of one of the issues of "The Little Express". I also saw it used as the background for a programme on BBC in 1979/80 called "Wayland's Smithy" or something. In any case, that's the phrase that sticks in my head. Something about a magical horse and a girl and ... one of those fantasy programmes. Probably carved out of the hillside by pre-Roman Celts (back when they had a civilisation and Europe was covered by a bunch of warring tribes). -- John ---- John M. Relph IntelliGenetics, Inc.
