Subject: Bowie concert

In my frenzy of catching up with lh-digests, I seem to recall somebody very disappointed with David Bowie doing Pepsi commercials. Well I read a interview in Musician where he said this simply enable him to do a bigger, better concert than he otherwise could. I went to his concert at Anaheim Stadium (8/8), and I believe it. It was extremely well put together in every way: stage production, choreography, sound, thematic coherence (I think--didn't try to analyze too much). He did quite a few (relatively obscure) album cuts that I'd always thought were some of his best work, and left out standards like "Space Oddity" "Changes" "Suffragette City", probably because they didn't fit in with the theme. And that tons of stage setup! It's David Bowie outrageousness at its best (that is, when it works). Probably have to wait for the (ever intangible) Kate Bush concert for a similar experience. For Bowie fans out there, even if you're disappointed by his half-hearted efforts of the last few albums: DON'T MISS IT. And bring binoculars if you can't get good seats. Fu-Sheng
