Subject: A disappointing concert (sigh)
Everybody has heard me rave on and on about how the Woodentops are so brilliant I can hardly stand it etc. I thought I'd submit this to show how objective I am... I saw them again last night at the 9:30 Club in Washington, and it was...well, the magic wasn't there, that's for sure. They weren't half as lively as they were last time around and the only moment that REALLY impressed me was a hot version of "Travellin' Man" that segued right into "Get It On." They stretched "Steady Steady" into oblivion, reducing its power. So I find out that the entire band had the FLU. That explains it! I forgive them and I hope they'll be back soon. BTW, they have a great remix of "Love Affair With Everyday Livin'" out on 12" remixed by -- I couldn't believe it, either -- Adrian Sherwood! Has anybody heard the new Robyn Hitchcock album??? He will be touring next month -- DON'T miss him! Skinny Puppy/Severed Heads cancelled their tour...grrrr. sue "It's paradise when those zombie eyes Are trained on you, sucking you dry"
