It depends on how you look at time.  One might look at it the way Roger
Waters does:

	They flutter behind you, your possible pasts
	Some bright-eyed and crazy, some frightened and lost
	A warning to anyone still in command
	Of their possible futures, to take care

Besides, "the crossroads of time" is a common expression.
