I must correct you on this.  Frank Baum came up with the name Oz as he sat in
his office.  He was trying to come up with a good name for the land, and as
his eyes darted around the room, he came upon his filing cabinet.  One of the
drawers was labelled "O - Z".  That is the official press release, anyway !
