I've always been repulsed by their insipid hippie stoner facade, but I can't honestly say I think they "suck". (Now the Doors on the other hand...) --- end of quote --- Hi John, The Dead have ALWAYS been associated with the hippy-drug scene. It's natural to think that way because that's exactly where they came from. But drugs and hippies aside, they made some damn good music...musically and lyrically. A few axamples: Throwing Stones, I Will Take You Home, Stella Blue, Standing On The Moon, Black Peter, Sugar Magnolia....and the list goes on and on. In terms of a Live experience, there is no equal to a Grateful Dead show. The atmosphere is pure bliss and love. The love is sent out to the band and the band returns the love. At a dead show, audience and band are one. I feel sad for those of you who haven't experienced a Dead show. Their songs are about love, responsibility, respect and tolerence of, and for, all. There is no HATE at a Dead show. peace ron
