=======
The Challenger disaster occurred in January 1986 (Monday the 28th, I
believe--and yes, I do recall where I was when I heard about it.)
*Hounds of Love* was released about the end of July (Katemas?) 1985. (I
also remember where and when I first heard it--my first listen to her,
not counting catching a couple of plays of "Running Up That Hill" on the
radio.)
So the album could not have been inspired by Challenger. *However, as
I've commented before in this newsgroup, the event occurred at a time
not long after I bought the album, and I was naturally still listening
to it fairly often, and "Hello Earth" seemed somehow very appropos.

While we're into that area of history, how about another thought: Some
of you may remember that Joni Mitchell released an album called *Dog Eat
Dog* right around that time. I think it came out in the autumn of 1985.
I also remember that it had another "canine" cover motif, but a less
tranquil one. Any connection there?
