Brazil

Listening to Kate's version of "Brazil" the other day I couldn't help
wishing that she'd actually been in the film singing it.  It's such a
gorgeous, yet melancholy and nostalgic tune - she could be a lover, or
an idealised version thereof for the main character.  Does anyone know
why it wasn't included in the original soundtrack and/or film?
