How'd you end up stuck in Melbourne? Just curious.....
Since you asked, the station director at the time I was there did not
approve of my roomie's choice of material. He was asked to play Smiths,
REM, etc., which he did, but he'd also throw in the odd Rush tune or Kate
or something for himself from time to time. Anyway, it turned into a
battle of wills, with the station manager yelling at him about playing
Rush and Steve responding by playing more Rush. Anyway, after Steve lit
off Side 1 of 2112 in it's entirety, the station manager requested that
he vacate his position. Pretty silly actually. Prog rock and metal was
frowned on by the clique in charge of the station at the time, and they
thought it somehow diminished their coolness if Rush was played over
their airwaves I suppose.....
