IED agrees with Karen about most of the points
she makes. Of course none of us can really know
what her day-to-day relationship has been like
with EMI, though it has probably changed in various
ways over the years, depending on who she was
dealing with at this or that time.

One item not mentioned by Karen is the extraordinary
interview done by "Q" Magazine a few years ago, in
which Kate is considerably more frank about EMI than
IED recalls her ever having been before or since. Her
words are as usual very carefully controlled, but one
gathers that she was quite upset with them for a time
during the mid-'80s, in part because of their insistence
that she change the title of her lead-off single from the
"Hounds of Love" album: originally called "A Deal With God",
it was finally altered, at EMI brass's request, to "Running
Up That Hill". Chris or Vickie will surely remember this
more accurately than IED.

Congratulations to Vice President Karen!!
