Don't we keep going over this every couple of weeks? The short form is that, when Kate got back the tape of "Why Should I Love You?" from the artist then known as Prince, he had taken it far afield of her original intention for the song, and she did a kind of salvage job to restore what she originally had in mind. As was mentioned in this group just a couple of weeks ago, Kate even felt compelled to phone Paisley Park and request that all copies of the erstwhile Prince's version be destroyed! I should add that I do actually like "Why Should I Love You?" as released, but out of pure intellectual curiosity I wish I could have heard what Kate originally sent Prince, and what he sent back to her, and compare both to the finished product. Of course, as stated above, this particular taste-test is no longer possible.
