Don't we keep going over this every couple of weeks?  The short form is
that, when Kate got back the tape of "Why Should I Love You?" from the
artist then known as Prince, he had taken it far afield of her original
intention for the song, and she did a kind of salvage job to restore what
she originally had in mind.  As was mentioned in this group just a couple
of weeks ago, Kate even felt compelled to phone Paisley Park and request
that all copies of the erstwhile Prince's version be destroyed!

I should add that I do actually like "Why Should I Love You?" as released,
but out of pure intellectual curiosity I wish I could have heard what Kate
originally sent Prince, and what he sent back to her, and compare both to
the finished product.  Of course, as stated above, this particular
taste-test is no longer possible.
