Before MTV, these "videos" were called promotional clips. The Beatles,
Pink Floyd, Jefferson Airplane and other bands have made promotionsl clips
for some of their songs. So I guess this art form was really created in the
60s....maybe even the 50s. Kate's early clips were pretty much up to par
with other clips of that time...no better, no worse.

It was great to watch videos in the early to mid 80s. MTV, Much Music and
Music Plus were genuinely interested in actually playing clips.... but as the
years went by, it seems that the so-called music channels were more and more
interested in topic discussions, teen sports and game shows. Oddly, the music
video itself (the thing that gave birth to those cable stations) was/is being
pushed aside. From what I've seen in recent months, only VH1 still manages to
braodcast mostly videos and concerts and such....although they do show us some
rather scary moments (the 70s, disco..., David Cassidy and his 8track show)
ay...ay...ay...

peace
